Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 115, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 115.026, to read as follows:
115.026. Each election authority shall conduct a record check to determine whether a person filing a declaration of candidacy under this chapter is prohibited by any law from filing as a candidate for the particular election for which the person is filing a declaration of candidacy. Such record check shall also include a check of any military records to determine the type of discharge from the military the person received, if any.
