AN ACT

To amend chapter 9, RSMo, by adding thereto two new sections relating to the designation of certain holidays in Missouri.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Chapter 9, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto two new sections, to be known as sections 9.162 and 9.180, to read as follows: 

            9.162. The governor shall issue annually a proclamation setting apart November thirteenth each year as "Buck O'Neil Day" and recommending to the people of the state that the day be appropriately observed with activities, events, and ceremonies in honor of John Jordan "Buck" O'Neil, a first baseman and manager of the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro American League, who became the first African-American coach in Major League Baseball.

            9.180. The governor shall issue annually a proclamation setting apart the fourth week of May as "Missouri Safe Boating Week", and recommending to the people of the state that the day be appropriately observed with activities and events that will result in an increased awareness of the importance of boating safety.
