August 18 - Delta Center in Portageville, Missouri

Portageville –Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives Rod Jetton toured the Delta Research Center today in Portageville during his statewide agriculture industries tour. During the stop, Speaker Jetton toured the 47 year old center to gain a better understanding of their crop research and met with the 52 members of the Delta Center Board of Directors.

“Agriculture is one of Missouri’s most important industries and many people do not realize there is more to farming than just planting seeds and waiting for it to rain,” said Speaker Jetton. “It costs thousands of dollars for a farmer to prepare the ground, buy seeds, deal with weeds and harmful pests and then deliver the crop to market. Research at the Delta Center is helping farmers find the best products and practices that will allow them to grow our food in the most efficient and profitable way possible. And it is very important to the well being of Missouri and all our citizens.”
