Biography
Rep. John McCaherty, a Republican, represents part of Jefferson and St Louis County (District 97) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in 2010. Due to term limits, he is currently serving in his last term of office.

Rep. McCaherty has more than 20 years of experience in small business where he has worked in service industries, as well as sales and management. Rep. McCaherty also served in the Armed Forces from 1984-1989.
Rep. McCaherty is a member of the Northwest Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, the Jefferson County Republican Club, and a life member of the NRA, as well as serve as a member of the Friends of Jefferson County Library Board. Rep. McCaherty has received the Christian Leadership Award, and has been recognized for his work on pro-life issues, workers’ rights issues, was recognized in 2016 by the American Conservative Union , as well as being a strong voice for small business as the Chairman of that committee.
Rep. McCaherty graduated from high school in Louisiana and graduated, Summa Cum Laude, from Liberty University with both a Bachelors of Science, and a Masters Degree.

Born in Mississippi, Rep. McCaherty currently resides in Fenton. He has two grown sons.
