COMMITTEE
HB 394 -- VEHICLE LICENSE PLATES
SPONSOR: Loudon
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations by a vote of 13 to 0.
This bill allows any person to register as a personalized plate
any license plate issued by the state of Missouri prior to 1979
in which the year of the issuance of such plate is consistent
with the year of the manufacture of the vehicle. The procedure
and fees for personalized plates will apply. Such license plate
will not be required to possess the characteristic features of
reflective material and common color scheme and design as
required of present plates.
FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Increase to Highway Fund of $4,409 in FY
1998, $6,750 in FY 1999, & FY 2000.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that some street rodders and antique
car collectors would like to use a genuine plate issued the year
the vehicle was manufactured.
Testifying for the bill was Representative Loudon.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
