AN ACT

To amend chapter 162, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to high school athletic events, with an emergency clause.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 162, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 162.1195, to read as follows:

            162.1195. No school district, included in which is the intersection of highways 367 and 67, located in a county with a charter form of government and with more than one million inhabitants shall conduct graduation exercises for seniors on the same day that any athletic event sponsored by the Missouri State High School Athletic Association is also being held.

            Section B. Because immediate action is necessary to protect the opportunities for college scholarships of high school seniors scheduled to graduate after the spring 2007 semester, the enactment of section A of this act is deemed necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health, welfare, peace, and safety, and is hereby declared to be an emergency act within the meaning of the constitution, and enactment of section A of this act shall be in full force and effect upon its passage and approval.
