SB956C-ANIMAL-DRIVEN VEHICLES
Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SCS SB 956 -- ANIMAL-DRIVEN VEHICLES

SPONSOR: Scott (Wilson, 119)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 20 to 0.

This substitute allows persons operating animal-driven vehicles
during the dark to use lamps or lanterns which comply with rules
promulgated by the Department of Public Safety. The substitute
also allows persons to equip their vehicles with reflective
material complying with rules promulgated by the department
rather than displaying the slow-moving triangle emblem.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that many of the Amish populations do
not want to use the slow-moving emblem for religious reasons.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Scott.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
