SB 951 -- POLITICAL SUBDIVISION CONTRACTS

SPONSOR: Griesheimer (Threlkeld)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 17 to 0.

This bill eliminates the requirement that political subdivisions
must file a copy of their contracts with the Secretary of State
and the recorder of deeds in the county where they are located.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill eliminates a costly and
timely requirement that is addressed by the Open Records Law
assuring the public access to these records.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Griesheimer; Missouri
Municipal League; and Missouri School Boards Association.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
