SCS SB 1195 -- JUVENILE COURT PERSONNEL

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Judiciary by a vote of 18 to 0.

This substitute removes the six-month election deadline to
receive prior creditable service within Section 211.393.2(e),
RSMo.

The substitute changes the definition of "juvenile court
employee" to include juvenile court personnel who were paid by a
grant, prior to July 1, 1999, allowing their service to be
creditable under the Missouri State Employees' Retirement System.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will rectify a problem
with retirement benefits for some juvenile court employees whose
salaries were partially funded by a federal grant.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Klindt; and Dennis Mitchell.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
