Current Bill Summary
SCS/SB 961 - The act adds language that allows political
subdivisions from adopting ordinances prohibiting amateur radio
communications equipment from interfering with the reception of
broadcast radio or television signals.
This act requires orders and ordinances of political
subdivisions to comply with the limited preemption of the Federal
Communications Commission Amateur Radio preemption order and
other applicable federal regulations. Any order or ordinance
relating to amateur radio antennas must be reasonable and minimal
in nature.
This act does not prohibit a political subdivision from
taking action to protect or preserve a historic, a historical or
architectural district that is established by the political
subdivision or under state or federal law.
This act is similar to SCS/HB 822 (TAT)
