SCS SB 540 -- STATE FAIR

SPONSOR: Mathewson (Wiggins)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Agriculture by a vote of 22 to 0.

Currently admission fees and revenues from sales collected at the Missouri State Fair are deposited by the Director of Revenue in the State Fair Fee Account in general revenue. This substitute creates the State Fair Fee Fund to receive admissions fees, revenues, gifts, grants, contributions, appropriations, and funds from any source. The balance of the fund is to be invested by the State Treasurer. Income from such investments is to be retained in the fund.

FISCAL NOTE: Income to State Fair Fee Fund of $4,876 in FY 2001, $13,194 in FY 2002, and $13,194 in FY 2003. Loss to General Revenue Fund of $4,876 in FY 2001, $13,194 in FY 2002, and $13,194 in FY 2993.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that investment of funds in the State Fair Fee Fund would provide additional funds for the State Fair.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Mathewson.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
