Biography:
Rep. Sheila Solon represents Eastern Jackson County including Blue Springs, Lake Tapawingo and Lee's Summit (District 31) in the Missouri House of Representatives. She was elected to her first two-year term in November 2010 and re-elected to her second term in 2012.
Rep. Solon serves as vice chair of the Veterans committee. She is a also a member of Local Government, Urban Issues and Transportation committees.
In addition to her legislative duties, Rep. Solon is an Account Coordinator with Parlux Fragrances. She also served for three years on the Blue Springs City Council and as Mayor Pro Tem.
Rep. Solon has nine years of service on the Blue Springs Planning Commission, including several as chair. She also has served as chairman of the Development Advisory Commission, chairman of the Comprehensive Plan Review Commission, and chairman of the Multi-Family Task Force Commission. In addition, she has served on the Board of Zoning and Adjustment, Charter Review Committees, City Area Plan Committee, Capital Improvements Committees, Bond Task Force Committee and the Citizen’s Police Academy. She also has served on the Blue Springs School District Citizens Advisory Council and was a PTA President at Cordill-Mason Elementary.
Rep. Solon is a member of the Blue Springs’ First United Methodist Church. She serves on the Hospitality Committee and is a member of the United Methodist Women.
Rep. Solon resides in Blue Springs with her husband, Charlie Solon. They have two children. Their daughter, Lindsey, teaches first grade at James Walker Elementary in Blue Springs. Their son, Spencer, is an engineering student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
